Pokémon Center UK’s 30th Celebration tin drop: timers that said 30 hours, a sell-out in two hours, and collectors who’ve had enough
If you spent Thursday evening watching a Pokémon Center queue page tell you “30 hours”, you weren’t alone. Here is what we saw from inside our own Discord, minute by minute: why the timers mean so little, why so many collectors are convinced bots and resellers got there first, and what Pokémon Center could do about it.

Quick answer: Pokémon Center UK opened a queue for ten 30th Celebration mini tins at 17:40 on 15 October 2026. The queue’s timers meant very little: members were quoted 25, 47 and even 78 hours in the first half hour, 6 or 7 hours an hour in, and about 1 hour an hour after that. At 19:51, a little over two hours after the queue opened, the tins were being reported sold out, while timers still said an hour to go. Nobody outside Pokémon Center can prove how many went to bots, but collectors have seen this pattern before, and they want stricter rules.

What happened on 15 October, minute by minute
The queue went up at 17:40. The first public alert was posted at 17:40, and our own Discord alert went out 14 seconds after it, so anyone with notifications on was in the queue within the first minute.
Ten products were in the drop, all 30th Celebration mini tins, with a cart limit of one per tin: Umbreon, Moltres, Day Pikachu, Greninja, Mewtwo, Espeon, Lapras, Night Pikachu, Mew and Zapdos.
From inside the queue our members saw the US Pokémon Center being served first, with UK shoppers behind it. The timers made no sense at all. In the first half hour members were quoted 18, 47, 50 and even 78 hours. An hour in, around 18:40, the same queue was showing 6 or 7 hours to some people and still 23 to 25 hours to others. By 19:29 it was 2 hours, and by 19:49 about an hour. That is how Pokémon Center’s queue behaves: the number on your screen starts high, falls fast, and tells you almost nothing about your real chances.
At 19:51, a little over two hours after the queue opened, the first “sold out” reports arrived, while plenty of timers still said an hour to go. Within minutes all ten tins were gone. One member who got through minutes before the end checked out all ten tins in a single order; most of the people in that queue never saw a product page.

Why collectors are convinced bots got there first
We can’t see Pokémon Center’s order data, so nobody outside the company can say how many tins went to automated buyers. What we can say is what the queue looked like from the outside, and it is the shape collectors have learned to recognise.
A queue that serves people for two hours and then runs dry while timers still quote an hour means the stock was thin for the number of people waiting, and everyone who got through could take all ten tins in one basket: a cart limit of one per tin is no limit at all for a reseller running several accounts. By our members’ accounts the US store was completely out of stock before the UK queue had finished.
The anti-bot checks, meanwhile, were catching humans. Members who switched from Wi-Fi to mobile data mid-queue were flagged, and one got what they called “the error of doom” and lost their place. Another was blocked as a bot the moment they reached the site. The alert accounts had warned beforehand not to refresh too fast or risk an IP ban. Real collectors were being told to tread carefully while the stock vanished at a speed no thumb can manage.
If past drops are anything to go by, the tins will be on resale sites above RRP within days. That, more than the sell-out itself, is what has people angry. In our Discord the mood went from “I hate bots” to “what a waste of two hours” to one suggestion we think Pokémon Center should hear: make people prove who they are.

What Pokémon Center already does
To be fair to Pokémon Center UK, it isn’t doing nothing. Big drops use a waiting room, places are handed out at random to everyone who arrives in the first moments (which is why two people who clicked in the same second can see very different timers), the timers themselves are rough estimates that fall as the queue moves, and this drop had a cart limit of one per tin, which still let a single order take all ten.
It also runs bot checks, and it has separate US and UK stores. The trouble is that none of that stops a reseller running many accounts, many devices and many addresses, and this time the UK queue sat behind the US one as well.
What stricter rules could look like
These are our views, and our members’, not Pokémon Center’s plans. But every one of them is something other retailers already do for their hottest products.
- One order per delivery address per drop, enforced before shipping, with duplicate orders cancelled, and a real limit per order: two or three tins, not all ten.
- Verified accounts only for the biggest drops: an account older than a few weeks, a confirmed phone number, and a payment name that matches the delivery address. One of our members put it simply: upload ID that matches the delivery address.
- A UK-only queue for UK stock, so UK collectors aren’t queued behind another country’s store.
- A ballot for the most-wanted products, the way Pokémon Center’s own Japanese store handles its hottest items: enter during a window, winners are drawn at random, and bots gain nothing from speed.
- Holding part of the stock back for a second, announced window, so one two-hour queue isn’t the only chance.
- Telling people what is in the drop before the queue opens. This time most people queued without knowing what they were queuing for.
How to give yourself the best chance next time
- Get the alert fast and act on it. Our Discord posted this queue 14 seconds after the first public post, with @everyone.
- Ignore the timer. It can say 30 hours, then 7 an hour later, then 1; none of those numbers is a promise. Stay in the queue until the stock is confirmed gone.
- Don’t switch networks or refresh once you’re in. Members who went from Wi-Fi to mobile data mid-queue were flagged. If you use two devices, keep them on different networks (one on Wi-Fi, one on mobile data): two on the same Wi-Fi gets flagged too.
- Be logged in to your Pokémon Center account with your address and payment details saved before the queue opens.
- Once you’re through, go to the Latest Releases page, add to cart and check out. Every second counts.
- Don’t overpay on resale. Mini tins also turn up at UK shops at RRP, and we post those the moment they land.

Will the 30th Celebration tins be restocked?
We don’t know, and neither does anyone else outside Pokémon Center. It does restock popular products without warning, and the 30th Celebration mini tins are also sold by UK shops, so the Pokémon Center queue is not the only way to get one. When they show up anywhere, our free Discord is the fastest place to hear about it.
For UK collectors
30th Celebration came out in the UK in September 2026. 26 UK card shops we read list its products.
A 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box has a usual UK RRP of £49.99, so prices well above that usually come from resellers.
Also coming from 30th Celebration: 30th Celebration Battle Decks (30 October), 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection (6 November), 30th Celebration Ditto Premium Collection (6 November).
Pokémon Center UK sells its own versions of some products, like the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, and big drops there can use a queue.

Questions
When did the Pokémon Center UK queue open on 15 October 2026?
At 17:40 UK time. The first sold-out reports came at 19:51, a little over two hours later.
What was in the Pokémon Center drop?
Ten 30th Celebration mini tins, one of each design: Umbreon, Moltres, Day Pikachu, Greninja, Mewtwo, Espeon, Lapras, Night Pikachu, Mew and Zapdos, with a cart limit of one per tin.
Why did my queue say 30 hours?
Because Pokémon Center’s timers are rough estimates that start high and fall fast. Our members watched 47 hours become 7 hours an hour later and about 1 hour an hour after that. The number reflects the queue’s speed at that moment, not when you will get in. Places are also handed out at random to everyone who arrives in the first moments, and this time the UK queue sat behind the US store.
Did bots buy the 30th Celebration tins?
Nobody outside Pokémon Center can prove it. What collectors saw was the US store selling out first, the UK stock running dry a little over two hours in while timers still quoted an hour, one basket allowed to take all ten tins, and real shoppers being flagged by the bot checks. That is why people are asking for stricter rules.
Will Pokémon Center restock the 30th Celebration mini tins?
Unknown. Pokémon Center restocks popular products without warning, and the tins are also sold by UK shops. Our free Discord posts both the moment they appear.
